For Beginners… What You Need to Know Before Trying THC Gummies for the First Time

Chances are you’ve heard about gummies containing THC. They’re showing up everywhere these days, even prime time television shows are mentioning gummies.

Maybe you’ve heard that they can help you sleep, or maybe that they can be good for managing chronic pain. Maybe you want to reduce anxiety you’re feeling, or maybe you just want something that’s mildly intoxicating, without drinking alcohol.

THC gummies can be a great answer for all of those reasons and more.

However, if it’s your first time trying THC gummies, there are things you need to know to ensure that you get what you’re looking for from the experience. (Or, if you’ve tried THC gummies before but didn’t have the right experience, then you need to know these things too.)

1. The effects from edibles are very different than smoking or vaping THC

When you eat THC, as opposed to smoking or vaping it, your liver converts it into a metabolite called: 11-hydroxy-THC, which is known to:

  • Feel more intense per milligram
  • More psychoactive than Delta-9 THC
  • Builds more gradually
  • Lasts much longer

This is why even low milligram hemp-derived gummies can still feel surprisingly strong, especially for new or occasional users, but also across the board. It’s crucial that you know your optimal initial dose, which is why using Deltrium’s Dosing Algorithm is so important.

Taking too much of a THC gummy is no fun, so if you don’t use the Deltrium Dosing Algorithm, it’s best to start with very small amounts, but don’t “wait an hour and take more,” which is the sort of advice commonly heard in dispensaries.

Once you try the small amount on your first use, don’t plan on taking more later. If you don’t feel it, try again tomorrow. Waiting an hour and taking more most often leads to taking too much.

2. Hemp-derived gummies don’t always contain THC alone. They can also include:

  • CBD (to soften or modulate THC)
  • Delta-8 THC (often perceived as less intense than Delta-9)
  • CBG, CBN, THC-V, among other cannabinoids
  • Adaptogens, like passion flower, cordyceps, Lion’s Mane, L-Theanine or ashwagandha

The same THC dose can feel calm, or buzzy… heavy, or barely noticeable depending on the ratios of what’s inside, not the raw numbers. And, it is ALL about the ingredients and ratios, not the raw numbers of milligrams.

Science calls the blending of cannabinoids and adaptogens, “the entourage effect.”

Milligrams alone don’t capture balance.

3. First determine what you want from the experience.

Are you looking for something to help you sleep, manage pain, reduce anxiety? Or, are you out to have a laughing good time? Knowing what you’re looking for matters a lot.

Let’s consider Deltrium’s DREAM blend gummies as an example. They contain THC and CBN (the cannabinoid that helps you sleep) in a ratio of 25:15, which we’ve found to be most effective. But, that’s not all.

DREAM also contains 25 milligrams of Passion Flower and 50 milligrams of L-Theanine.

  • Passion Flower is an all-natural sedative and anxiolytic used to relieve anxiety, improve sleep quality, and reduce stress. By boosting GABA levels in the brain, it acts as a calming agent, often used for insomnia, nervousness, and, in some studies, pre-surgery anxiety.
  • L-Theanine is an amino acid commonly found in green tea known to promote relaxation and reduce stress, and improve sleep quality. It crosses the blood-brain barrier to increase calming neurotransmitters like GABA, serotonin, and dopamine.

Taking DREAM won’t make you “high,” in the traditional sense, but it will make you sleepy… help you sleep through the night… and you’ll wake up with no grogginess. It is Deltrium’s number one selling blend, and everyone that uses it, loves it.

It might just be the most effective sleep aid ever made. But, you’d only want to take it when you want to sleep.

Now, contrast DREAM with Deltrium’s ENERGIZE blend…

You can think of ENERGIZE as being the opposite of DREAM. As the name suggests, ENERGIZE won’t make you sleepy, in fact, it will give you hours of extra energy and focus. It’s something you might take before spending the entire day at the state fair.

ENERGIZE contains 20 milligrams of THC, but also 10 milligrams of THC-V, a cannabinoid first discovered in 1973, but research by the scientific community has intensified over the last 15 years.

THC-V alone is not psychoactive, in fact in low doses, it actually acts against the psychoactive effects of straight THC. Studies have shown that THC-V increases the bio-availability of THC, and it helps control appetite. Medical applications include treating seizures and obesity.

It’s very rare to find THC-V in today’s gummies, frankly, because it’s much more expensive than the other cannabinoids.

ENERGIZE also contains two adaptogens: 50 milligrams of Lion’s Mane, used to improve cognitive function and 50 milligrams of cordyceps.

Cordyceps is known for increasing the production of the molecule adenosine triphosphate (ATP) in the body, which is responsible for delivering energy to the muscles. The usage of oxygen is especially important when exercising.

The combination makes ENERGIZE very stimulating, but with NO caffeine. You’ll feel happy, aware and stimulated, colors might seem brighter, but you won’t feel impaired… you’ll still be able to do math.

Deltrium’s blends were developed to create targeted effects, whether it’s DREAM for sleep, SOOTHE for pain, UNWIND to relax, ENERGIZE to stimulate, JOYFUL for happiness, or SOARING, when you want to feel intoxicated or “high.”

No two have the same ingredients, and each feels very different from the other. That’s why it’s so important that you know what you’re taking and why.

4. Using the Deltrium Dosing Algorithm and DeltriumDividerTM

The Deltrium Dosing Algorithm is a series of questions that you answer about you, and in a second or two, you’ll be assigned a DOSING COLOR BAR: purple, orange, green, blue or red.

Once you know your color bar, you’ll simply look on any Deltrium product and you’ll find the Dosing Chart, with five colors. Find your color and you’ll know your optimal initial dose.

Then use your DeltriumDivider to cut your gummies into quarters accurately. If your dose is one quarter, only take one quarter.

The Deltrium Dosing Algorithm and DeltriumDivider combine to ensure that no one takes too much and feels uncomfortable, and no one takes too little and feels nothing at all.

DID YOU KNOW THAT 70 PERCENT OF DELTRIUM’S CUSTOMERS HAVE LITTLE OR NO EXPERIENCE WITH THC?

It’s true. Almost three quarters of Deltrium customers have little or no experience with THC. They use Deltrium because it’s safe. Knowing which blend to take, in the right amount, is a real game changer. And, it’s the only one of its kind in the industry.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. How much THC should a beginner take?

Most beginners start with 2.5mg to 5mg of THC. Starting with a low dose allows you to understand how your body responds and reduces the risk of taking too much. Always wait at least two hours before considering another serving.

2. How long do THC gummies take to work?

THC gummies typically take between 30 and 90 minutes to take effect. Factors like metabolism, body weight, and whether you’ve eaten recently can influence how quickly you feel the effects.

3. How long do the effects of THC gummies last?

The effects of THC edibles can last anywhere from 4 to 8 hours, depending on the dose and your individual tolerance. Edibles generally last longer than inhaled cannabis products.

4. What does a THC gummy feel like for first-time users?

First-time users may experience relaxation, mild euphoria, enhanced sensory perception, or a calm body sensation. Effects vary based on dosage and personal tolerance levels.

5. Can you take too much THC from gummies?

Yes. Taking too much THC can lead to temporary discomfort such as anxiety, dizziness, or grogginess. That’s why beginners should start with a low dose and increase gradually if needed.
